Aqua Therapy

The method of hydrotherapy is a method in which diseases and functional losses are treated by utilising the physical properties of water. Thanks to the heat and hydrostatic properties of water, it applies buoyancy to the body, allowing movements to be performed more easily and painlessly. The benefits of hydrotherapy are as follows:

1. Helps to lessen pain and tenderness.
2. Increases joint movements and helps muscle relaxation.
3. Strengthens the respiratory muscles and allows the body to use oxygen more efficiently.
4. Increases muscle strength and endurance by using water resistance.
5. Increases the motivation of patients who can perform movements more easily by this therapy.
6. Due to the reduced effect of gravity, exercises performed in water put less load on the muscles.
7. Helps to activate the lymph system and can control oedema.

Hydrotherapy allows challenging exercises to be performed more easily and safely due to decreased muscle strength in neurological diseases such as spinal cord injuries, stroke, Multiple Sclerosis. Also, by reducing the load on the joint after orthopaedic surgeries, it can facilitate the rehabilitation process.

What are the main diseases for which hydrotherapy is applied?

  • Cerebral Palsy,
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS),
  • Muscular Dystrophy,
  • Guillan Barre Syndrome,
  • Musculoskeletal System Injuries,
  • Stroke (paralysis),
  • Spinal Cord Injuries,
  • Joint injuries,
  • After Fracture and Surgical Procedures,
  • Fibromyalgia,
  • Rheumatic Diseases,
  • Sports Injuries,
  • Soft Tissue Injuries,
  • Obesity,
  • Osteoarthritis (arthritis),

How hydrotherapy is performed at ROMMER?

Hydrotherapy application in our centre is planned individually after the examination of the specialist doctor and applied one-to-one with a physiotherapist. Since thermal water is used in our center’s pool, the beneficial effects of these healing waters are also utilized. Hydrotherapy application in diseases such as cerebral palsy and stroke (paralysis) is very useful for mobilisation and contributes to the success of rehabilitation.
