When the half-moon-shaped pieces of cartilage in the knee joint are damaged, a meniscus tear occurs. Sudden rotational movements, traumas, sportive injuries or aging may cause meniscus tears. Symptoms are usually manifested as knee pain, locking and sticking complaints that occur during knee bending. The treatment aims to control pain and swelling with conservative methods and to eliminate complaints such as joint limitations and to strengthen the muscles around the knee. Physiotherapy helps to reduce the pain that may occur in the postoperative period, increase muscle strength and restore joint function in cases requiring surgery.
