Anterior cruciate ligament tears are a common condition in the knee joint and usually occur as a result of sudden turns or injuries. This injury can lead to pain, swelling and instability in the knee. It may occur during activity on inappropriate movements or grounds during sports. In this group of patients, rehabilitation is the cornerstone of treatment, with or without surgery..
WHY ROMMER?
Physical therapy should be applied before and after surgery. If there is no need for surgery, the physical therapy should be applied as soon as possible to reduce swelling, increase the range of motion of the knee and strengthen the thigh muscles. The treatment is completed with ice compression application, weight control to be loaded on the leg, use of support equipment, movement exercises, electrical stimulation, strengthening exercises, balance exercises and return to sports activities with a physiotherapist specialised in the field according to the patient’s condition and activity level during the rehabilitation process.
