Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Rehabilitation

MS (Multiple Sclerosis) is an autoimmune disease caused by a defect in the immune system that results in an attack of its own cells against its own brain and spinal cord. MS is a chronic and progressive disease of the central nervous system and is characterised by various symptoms such as limitation of movement, weakness, imbalance, speech and visual disturbances. Although the cause of the disease is not known exactly, various factors such as genetic factors, environmental factors and ethnicity are thought to play a role.

While neurological examination, MRI, EMG, CSF examination are used in the diagnosis, a personalised rehabilitation programme to be applied by specialist physiotherapists and occupational therapists plays an important role in the treatment. At the same time, technological devices such as robotic rehabilitation and balance trainer are used to improve balance and walking disorders at Rommer International.
